Windmill at Third Street

This is an 8 foot windmill located on the porch at Third Street Studio. I put it together using 48 tiny nuts and bolts.

Dream House

This Is Randy Dixon's Dream House. It is the first time the piece has been exhibited. It took us a few hours to put it together with nuts and bolts.

This was the first one I worked on and I really fell in love with the colors, I felt as if I was underwater snorkeling.

Bean

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Bean. This picture shows her in the beginning stages of setting up one of her pieces. If you look closely there are small hand made and hand painted ceramic pieces on the floor.

Poe Ranch

These are the colors in a house at Poe Ranch where I am working with Chris. She was hired to calm the colors down and figure out how to change them in a way that they relate better to eachother. We will use special glazes to calm them down. This is not so easy. I am learning that the warmth and coolness of colors have a tremendous effect on your psychy in your living space. And there is such a drastic change when you mix the colors just slightly.

Magic Red Dot Fabric

I came home from work and found a large bundle of red dot fabric sitting in my car. I was immediatly filled with awe and wonder, and took it upstairs and drapped it gently over the euclayptus log. After I drapped the fabric over the branch, I stepped back and thought how funny and amazing it was to see all the connections in my work, and how wonderful to receive a gift that fits a puzzle of red dots, circles, red string, and a covered branch beginning to look like a hidden sea circus horse.

Red Thread

I attached a strong red thread from the cracked circular face of the eucalyptus branch to the floor with eye hooks. Red thread from branch to floor, red dot on plywood board, circe plywood disconnected from board.

Before I did the red dot piece, I made this piece with a Eucalyptus tree branch.

Wooden Canoe Flip

This is a very old canoe. Handmade using wood. As part of my job at the Oakland Museum, we were called upon by Evault Corporationto to flip the wooden canoe that hung from the ceiling in their conference room. They wanted to see the beautiful wooden ribcage inside the belly of the canoe.

Cover Art

This art piece was in my Thesis Show, it was all material I found on the streets of Boston, except for the painted floor. When I took the show down, I threw the piece away into a dumpster. Recently I was asked by Massachusetts College of Art if they could use this image on the cover of their catalogue, the piece lives on, on a cover.

Installing at the Oakland Airport

I have just finished a fun week of installing at the Oakland Airport a group of works done by folks at Creative Visions. I have learned so much in just four days. There are so many tricks to hanging art, and treating the pieces with utmost care. Especially at the airport where we must hang everything so that it is earthquake safe, and also so that the public viewers cannot grab the art off the wall and run. I learned about using cleats, 409 to rub off marks on the wall, seflon and copper crimps to secure art, steel pins to hold down pieces, I even used some tools that I have never seen before. This is just the beginning. It is only part time work which is great, because I can get into Third Street Studio and work on my art, yet it makes it difficult to pay rent, bills, and the endless loans looming overhead. I feel determined, and confident that somehow it will all work out. Yes!

Oakland Museum

I am now an official tech. At the Oakland Museum, working for Professional Services, helping install shows and taking them down. I have always been interested in this work. I now realize I really love this kind of work, and I feel so lucky that I have landed here. Thanks to Barabara Holmes and Dina Rubiolo!!!

Trains at the Third Street Studio

Slowly settling into the studio. I love the trains. This one was a particularly colorful one.
It is great to be home.
